Andreach named ACC Player of the Week – Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Official Athletics Site
GREENSBORO, North Carolina. – Julia Andreach of the University of Notre Dame won the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week award for her performance last week. It is her first Player of the Week award this season and joins Page Freeman as another member of the Fighting Irish who have won the weekly league award. This is Andrea’s first weekly ACC award of his career.
Andreach finished last week 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles as she helped the Irish win a week 2-1. She played a vital role in Notre Dame’s upset of No. 8 Miami, winning the No. 2 singles of 28and-ranked player, Daevenia Achong in straight sets (7-5, 6-2). She followed that up with a three-set victory over Victoria Allen of Florida State.
In her doubles action, she teamed up with Yashna Yellayi to claim a 6-2 win at No. 2 to help Notre Dame earn the doubles point in the win over Miami. In her other two doubles matches during the week, she was tied at four before the doubles point was clinched and her match remained unfinished against Florida State. She suffered a similar fate against Oakland, with her team leading 5-1 when the game was abandoned.
Andreach and the Irish are back in action on April 15and as they head to Winston-Salem for a game with Wake Forest at noon, and conclude the regular season on April 16andalso at noon.
