Career play earns Quinn ECFC Offensive Player of the Week
THROGGS NECK, NY – For the second week in a row, a member of the Maritime College football team has been recognized by the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC). Year Two Wide Receiver Pat Quinn (Farmingdale, NY) was named ECFC Offensive Player of the Week after his career performance at Castleton on Saturday.
His first touchdown gave Maritime the lead just before halftime, and Quinn added another score midway through the third quarter. After Castleton took a 29-26 lead, Steven Stassi (East Islip, NY) found it for the third time. Quinn ran for 63 yards to pay off the dirt, putting the Privateers ahead 33-29 with 1:46 left. It was the longest catch of his career.
Quinn set career highs with three touchdowns, nine receptions and 155 receiving yards in the contest. He became the first privateer with three touchdown catches in a game since Brandonn Drumgole vs. Mass. Maritime on Sept. 7, 2018. Quinn’s 155 receiving yards, meanwhile, are the most by a Maritime player since Drumgole had 164 against Merchant Marine on Sept. 7, 2018. 16, 2017.
It’s the second straight time a player from the Maritimes has won weekly honors from the ECFC. Second-year defensive lineman Sean Murphy (Bayville, NY) was last week’s ECFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Quinn is the first Privateer to be named ECFC Offensive Player of the Week since Robert Wheeler on September 9, 2019.
The Privateers (1-5, 0-2 ECFC) hit the road Saturday, when they visit Gallaudet (5-1, 3-0 ECFC) at 1 p.m. This will be the Washington, DC team’s first meeting since the 2018 season finale.
