Charlie Bundy named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Virginia – William & Mary Freshman Charlie Bundy has been named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Male Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Bundy became the second student-athlete from the tribe to win weekly league honor this season, joining the grad student Matthew Feinsteinwho won the accolade on September 14.

The Bethesda, Maryland native earned a share of second place at the ECU Ironwood Collegiate Classic, scoring 3-under 213. It was the second-highest freshman score over 54 holes in the school history. Bundy closed the event with a 4-under 68 in the final round, which was the second-best 18-hole score for a Tribe freshman.

Bundy was one of seven players to card an eagle in the tournament, achieving the feat on hole seven in the third and final round. He also added six birdies on Tuesday. For the tournament, he led all players from par 5 with a score of 7 under, while ranking third from par 3 with par and total birdies with 11.

As a team, the tribe finished the event as runners-up in the Ironwood Collegiate Classic, behind the 15th best 54-hole score in program history. W&M returns to action when it takes to the Elon Phoenix Invitational, October 10-11, at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington, North Carolina.
