Game Night at Canan Commons for family fun
MUNCIE, Ind. – DWNTWN Muncie will offer a game night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at Canan Commons.
The evening will provide free fun for all ages, according to a statement. Children and adults can enjoy a variety of lawn games, including:
- Rockstar Bingo, a mix of Music Trivia and classic bingo hosted by Michelle Kinsey; bring your phone to play.
- Roshambo Tournament, a 36-team elimination rock, paper, and scissors tournament hosted by The Fickle Peach. Pre-registration is required.
- Show of strength from the top scorer
- tug of war
- giant jenga
- KUBB Viking Clash
- Giant parachute game
- card games
- Spoon and egg races
- Inflatable bouncing ball races.
Group play is encouraged. The games will be first come, first served, and after each game a new group of players can join.
Boulder Falls, Escapades Family Fun Center, Toys Forever and others will be there to provide fun ideas for other family entertainment opportunities. Food trucks including Three Bears Concessions, La Patron Mexican and Richman’s, as well as Guardian Brewing, will offer food in the park, in addition to nearby downtown restaurants.
Theologian JJ Warren will speak at the church
MUNCIE — Community of Hope Church will host JJ Warren for a weekend of events including a keynote presentation, luncheon, panel discussion and book signing on June 25-26.
Warren is a public theologian, speaker, lawyer, and author of “Reclaiming Church: A Call to Action for Religious Rejects.” He is a known advocate for the inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community in The United Methodist Church, according to a statement. He. will be the guest speaker during the weekend of events and will preach at Community of Hope at 10 a.m. on June 26.
Tickets are required for the June 25 event, with two options available for purchase. The $30 ticket includes a catered lunch from Café at the Crossing, a keynote presentation, a panel discussion, a copy of Warren’s book, and a book signing beginning at noon in Wesley Hall. $15.00 ticket includes keynote presentation, panel discussion, one book, and one book signing only, in the sanctuary at 1 p.m. Additional lunches are available for purchase for an additional $15. Founded in 2022, Community of Hope is a new United Methodist congregation made up of former College Avenue and Riverside UMC members, and located in the old College Avenue building.
