Google One reaches 500 million downloads on the Play Store
Google One has now passed the 500 million download mark on the Play Store just a year after hitting the 100 million figure in November 2020.
As spotted by Android Police, the Google One app is now joining an exclusive club that includes various proprietary titles, but it’s important to note that this figure is inflated as it’s preinstalled on many devices that shipped in late 2020 and now 2021.
The app has grown over the past couple of years to include more than just additional Google Account storage. With certain levels of Google One subscription, you have the option to save MMS messages to your Android phone, earn up to 10% cash back on purchases made through the Google Store, add Google filters Photos and editing tools, a dedicated VPN, and additional benefits and discounts.
Some of the additional downloads from Google One will no doubt be attributed to the fact that Pixel devices no longer include free and unlimited full-resolution backups for images and videos. This means that to expand beyond the initial free storage space of the 15 GB account, you will need to start subscribing to a Google One plan.
Fortunately, the plans start from $ 2 per month for 100 GB of additional account storage. The Extended Tiers begin to provide the aforementioned various benefits as you increase your monthly payment. Since it’s linked directly to your Google Account, a One subscription means you can download to all devices and still have access to your important files and documents stored in Docs, Drive, and Photos.
