Knights’ Carlson named CSC Player of the Year | News, Sports, Jobs
NORWAY – Norwegian senior Chase Carlson has been selected for the 2022 Skyline Central Conference “Player of the Year” in a recent league coaching vote.
Offensively, Carlson hit .476 with nine doubles, 25 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He posted a .539 on-base percentage, .619 slugging percentage and 1.159 OPS. He also stole 15 bases and was only caught once.
Defensively, Carlson threw out 25% of runners who attempted to steal and also recorded two pick-offs. The versatile senior also pitched and compiled a 1-0 record with a 2.21 ERA.
“Chase had a hell of a year, so it was exciting to see him become player of the year,” Norwegian university coach Tony Adams said. “Proud of all our guys who have been honored for their seasons.”
Norway also placed three players in the first team and two more in the second. Senior Nolan Amundson and sophomores Alex Ortman and Ian Popp were named to the first team, while juniors Carson Chartier and Michael Peterson were selected to the second team.
North Central put two players in the first team and three more in the second. Senior Alex Naser and second Adrian Mercier were selected to the first team, while senior Brady Anderson and juniors Jesse Sampson and Andrew Webber were chosen for the second team.
Forest Park, in their first season, were represented by juniors Adrian Bruette and junior Payton Woollard, who were both chosen in the second team.
