Liselli named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week
SPARTANBURG, SC — After helping VMI knock down Mount St. Mary’s last Friday on the road, VMI’s sophomore goaltender Jack Liselli was named Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Liselli had a phenomenal day in net for the Keydets in their 8-7 win at Mount St. Mary’s on Friday. The sophomore from Morrison, Colorado earned his first career win by making 12 saves and allowing just seven goals in VMI’s first win over The Mount in 17 years. Liselli faced 42 shots that day, posted a .632 save percentage and made two critical saves in a final defensive position as VMI picked up the win.
High Point’s Asher Nolting was named Offensive Player of the Week.
VMI (2-3) is back in action at Detroit Mercy midday Saturday in Birmingham, Michigan.
