Resolution Games reveals record growth in VR/AR game downloads

Resolution Games, the developer of virtual and augmented reality titles like Demeo and Blaston, announced that it reached several growth milestones in 2021. It also acquired Stockholm-based company Zenz VR.

Resolution reports its fifth consecutive year of profitability. It also reports nearly 4x the growth in B2C revenue and 3x the total number of game downloads in 2021 compared to 2020. Resolution’s talent has also increased by 55% compared to the end of last year. It currently has 158 employees.

Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games, said in a statement, “As a leader in VR gaming, we’ve had the opportunity to learn what works best for immersive gaming and what doesn’t. This experience puts us in a unique position to apply these learnings as we explore the next generation of technologies, including mixed and augmented reality. With sales of VR headsets seemingly doubling every year and the rise of next-gen AR and MR upon us, we find ourselves firmly entrenched in an era where pioneers will help define what the next generation of games.

The company also announced its talent-focused acquisition of Zenz VR. Zenz employees will augment current Resolution projects (the acquisition did not include any current Zenz intellectual property). Some of the employees have already started working in the AR division of Resolution. The company also launched a US-based subsidiary in Austin, Texas called Resolution Games Inc. Resolution Games co-founder Paul Brady leads the spin-off studio, which has 8 employees.
