John higgins will face the Belgian leader Luca Brecel in the Scottish Open final on Sunday as he aims to validate his position as the most consistent snooker player this season.
The four-time world champion has reached the finals of the Northern Irish Open, English Open and Champion of Champions in a series of outstanding successes. He surprisingly arrives on the cusp of his 30th year as a professional next year.
Higgins also lost to the British Championship winner at York Barbican last week with Zhao Xintong ahead of him 6-5 against 5-3 behind in the last 32.

The rejuvenated Scot has played the most frames of any player this season, competing in 255 frames in nine events and winning 155. He is also the oldest player in history to make a 147 with his 12th maximum in the game. ‘British Open in August at the age of 46 and 90 days.

He is already the most prolific match winner in history. Since turning pro in 1992, Higgins has competed in 445 tournaments, played 1,684 matches and won 1,171 for a match win percentage of 69.54%.
Only his great rival Ronnie o’sullivan, which he beat 6-1 in the Scottish Open semifinals, has a 74.84% higher matches won percentage after playing 93 fewer events.
He has also scored the most points this season, totaling 14,961 points and conceding 11,099 for a points difference of over 3,862.
Higgins is yet to win the Scottish Open after losing the 1998 final 9-5 to O’Sullivan and the 2016 final 9-4 to Marco fu, but will increase his all-time tournament wins to 32 behind O’Sullivan (37) and Stephane Hendry (36) successfully against British finalist Brecel in Llandudno.
